Racing Series Pacific Division Opener at Firebird International Raceway. In the
first round of qualifying at about 1.3 seconds into the run the car went into
severe tire shake, breaking the rear end housing. With a long thrash and help
from Tom Yancer Race Cars we were able to get the housing repaired and make
the next qualifying session on Saturday. Once again in the right lane Mark had to
lift when the car went into tire shake. For the final qualifying session we were in
the left lane which we felt was the better lane. With some major tune up changes
Mark easily went all the way down with a 5.700 @ 252 mph which put us in the # 7
spot from # 17 for Sunday’s eliminations. For the first round we were paired up
with Doug Gordon. Doug had lane choice and he took the left lane and we were
back in the right lane. They left the line together and once again Mark went into
severe tire shake and had to lift, giving the win to Doug who went on to run low
E.T. of eliminations. This time the rear end ring & pinion broke and the car had to
be pushed off the track when the rear tires locked up. With all the drive line
damage we decided to skip the Tucson, AZ race and get every thing ready for the
Houston National event race at the end of March.

Bellemeur goes to the head of the class and now Kraus is on the bump. The Woz
started to shake the tires at about 100ft and finally had to lift. That ends the first
session of Alcohol Funny Car.

Now that's the way to get off the bump! Goodwin had the car ready and Swayne
drove through the shake and into the top half of the show. The Woz had his hands
full of tire shaking racer and had to click it.

6:41 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 60 degrees, relative humidity 8
percent, barometer 30.18 inches, track temperature 70 degrees.
Drake again brings the car up and again it won't fire! You know it started in the
pits! Woznichak is hot, straight and true. He makes the field in the #6 spot and
has to watch more than a handful of cars try and knock him off. Kraus is on the
bump with a 5.720.

Really even start again but Woznichak ran into some severe tire shake early in
the run. He coasted but wasn't able to complete the run. Gordon had it on full
giddy-up and his run is quicker than Bellemeur, who he meets in round two.
