Auto Club Famoso Raceway
Bakersfield, Calif. Aug. 25-26
The Rancho Framing / White Cap / Direct Transport Camaro Top Alcohol Funny Car did well at the NHRA
Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event presented by Budweiser at the Auto Club Famoso Raceway. We reached
the semi-finals and ran consistently fast all weekend.
In the first round of qualifying we ran a 5.864 @ 245.83 mph which put us in the # 3 spot for that round. The
second round was not as good as the car drifted out of the groove and hit the 330 ft cone, which disqualified
the run. In the 3rd and final round after Mark had done the burnout he was shut off by the starting line crew
when it was discovered that a car was stuck on the track. Since both cars where ready to run both crews ( Woz
& Gordon) decided to just fire the cars & run. The decision proved to be the right one as both cars ran their best
times of the race. Mark ran a 5.801 @ 248.55 mph which put him in the # 6 position in the final qualifying order.
In the first round Mark faced off against Steve Gasparrelli the # 3 qualifier. They left almost together and Steve
went into tire shake having to lift and Mark went on to win with a 5.851 @ 247.86. Mark's 2nd round opponent
was the # 2 Qualifier Larry Miner. They left the line with Larry having a slight starting line advantage and Mark
was unable to run him down losing the race. Mark ran a 5.867 @ 245.43 mph to Larry’s winning 5.764 @ 251.04
We did not win the race, but we feel good about the cars performance and are looking forward to our next
race in Dallas, Texas at the O’Reilly NHRA Fall Nationals September 21-24 which will be televised on ESPN2 at :
10/01/2006 Sportsman 01:00 PM - 02:00 PM ET (ESPN2)
10/08/2006 Repeat Sportsman 02:00 AM - 03:00 AM ET (ESPN2)
The racing year is winding down and we only have 3 races left. We plan on going out with a bang and if we
have a few good races we can be in the top 15 in national points and top 5 in Division 7. Thanks to everyone
who helps us, your support is greatly appreciated.
